Overall, I think my final ten photos are good because they are all linked together through the ice skating rinks. This fulfils part of my brief, however I do believe that my photos don't completely show cities at work. Through editing my photos, I have tried to show different times of the day. Photos taken at canary wharf were taken at about 10 o'clock in the morning, those taken at Somerset house were taken at about 11.30 am and those taken at Brighton Pavilion were taken at about 8 o'clock in the evening. This gave me a range of photos to work with. The photos taken during the night used artificial light which contrasts with the photographs taken during the day, which used natural light. At the pavilion, the lights used were coloured lights, giving a lovely coloured reflection in the wet ice.
Trying to find the ice rink at Canary Wharf proved to be difficult. After I found the rink, I noticed that not many people were actually there. This was good as I didn't want people to be the main focus in my photos. However I found that there didn't seem to be too much to photograph.

At Somerset house, I used a range of fast and slow shutter speeds to get different effects in my pictures. This gave me a range of interesting and more dynamic images to work with, when choosing my final ten.
I took photos of the public skating on the ice, the workers working on the ice, and then no one on the ice too. As the main focus is on urban photography and not people, I wanted to make sure that I didn't have people in every photo. I also waited for the ice to be zambonied so I could get images with the reflection of the building on the ice, which I could then edit and improve in Lightroom.
A week later I went to Brighton. Although these images were taken in a different location, I like how they contrast with the other images. The lights on the Pavilion make it stand out and in my edits I have enhanced them.
To be honest I don't think my photos completely relate back to the photographers that I looked at at the beginning of this project. Like Mike Seabourne, I have used a slow shutter speed in some of my images.
The photos taken at Somerset House and Brighton Pavilion mix old and new. The building itself is old and was completed in 1801, however the ice skate rink brings a more modern feel to the building. I have also used reflection in most of my images (the reflection in the ice).
I am proud of my final images however, but in my opinion I could have gotten better images. I found it difficult to get good photos during the day as they all looked the same and in my opinion I don't think I've done well in this project but overall I have enjoyed working on this project.
